IN COLLABORATION WITH EL/MI/KAT The investment program of Ionian Hotels, amounting to 130 million euros, to transform the Hilton Athens into a multidimensional destination, in the center of Athens, which will employ over 600 workers and will be a new development model in the tourism sector.
In order to carry out the work, the Hilton Athens hotel closes on January 31, 2022, with the prospect of reopening after the end of 2024, when the renovation program is expected to be completed. The building complex that currently houses the Hilton Athens hotel is being completely renovated to create a multidimensional destination with new uses, from Ioniki Hotel Enterprises S.A. This is a strategic investment, which aspires to contribute to the emergence of Athens as a top choice in Europe, for visiting and for permanent residence.

ΑRIADNI ASPROPYRGOS ELECTRIC ENERGY TRANSMISSION (ESMIE) INTERCONNECTION ATTICA-CRETE
The achievement of the security of supply of the island together with the need to increase the absorption capacity of the electricity production from RES are the main reasons for the selection of two strong connection points, the existing high voltage station (HVT) of Koumundourou in Attiki and the Damasta area of the Municipality Maleviziou, Heraklion Prefecture.
In detail, the project includes:
a) Construction of a new two-pole VSC AC / DC conversion station in the area of Aspropyrgos (near the Koumoundouros Substation) as well as connection projects with the existing Koumoundouros Substation
b) Undergrounding of nine (9) circuits of 150 kV overhead transmission lines that ran within the grounds of the Koumoundourou Conversion Station.
c) Construction of a new two-pole VSC AC/DC conversion station in Damasta, Heraklion Prefecture.
d) Construction of a new 150kV GIS substation in Crete to connect the Damastas Conversion Station to the existing 150kV transmission system of Crete.
e) Construction and installation of a DC cable, connecting the conversion stations of Attica and Crete. This cable connector includes:
f) Two underground 500 kV direct current ultra-high voltage cables of approximately 32 km length (2 x 32 km), from the conversion station (Koumundourou) to the sealing point in Attiki (Pachi, Megara).
g) Two 500 kV direct current ultra-high voltage undersea cables approximately 336 km long (2 x 336 km), from the stranding point in Attica to the stranding point in Crete (Korakia).
h) Two 500 kV direct current ultra-high voltage underground cables approximately 11 km long (2 x 11 km) from the sealing point in Crete (Korakia, Heraklion) to the AC / DC conversion station in Damasta, Crete.
i) Upgrading and undergrounding of small sections of the existing 150kV overhead transmission lines in Crete, to connect the new 150kV GIS substation to the 150kV transmission system of Crete.
j) Addition of two new 150 kV transmission line gates to the existing Linoperamat substation
k) Seabed study for planning the routing of the two 500 kV ultra-high voltage submarine cables.
l) Construction of two (2) electrode stations, one on the uninhabited island of Stakhtoroi which is located at a distance of 19 km from Pachi Megaron and one in the wider area of Korakia at a distance of approximately 10.6 km from the conversion station of Damasta (Crete).
m) Additionally, for the monitoring and connection of these stations, a medium voltage direct current (MVDC) cable of approximately 51 km length will be constructed and installed for the Attica side (32 km terrestrial and 19 km underwater) and approximately 15 km for the side of Crete (11 km. land and 4 km. underwater). The medium voltage cable will be accompanied along the entire route by an optical fiber cable that will serve the communication of the electrode stations.
n) Construction and installation of two (2) optical fiber cables for the communication of the Conversion Stations.

The new plant will operate as a backup, with 6 GE LM2500XPRESS gas turbine technology, which will provide a combined capacity of up to approximately 200MW to meet the electricity demand and to ensure the stability of the supply in the country.
